HUMAN / NATURE DUALISM
Over time, industrialised nations have continually severed the link between nature and humans – an illusion called
“Human / Nature Dualism”. A vast majority value nature only for its short-term usefulness; a societal disconnect with a belief that nature’s only instrumental value lies in its resources and a determination to dominate it. These pieces
challenge that “Dualism” view, suggesting that we belong to nature and nature does not belong to us.

DUALITY OF LIGHT - FIGURE STUDIES
Thomas Young hypothesised that light can behave like waves, similar to ripples in a pond, with opposing forces reinforcing or destroying each another. When combined with Newtons theory that light consists of large streams of particles (corpuscles) – Wave-Particle Duality was born. These figure studies explore that idea by projecting both wave-like light patterns and singular key lights onto the surface of the skin creating positives and negatives to reveal the form. The figure sits within a volume, contained but floating, suspended in 3D space while loose chaotic linework underpaints the figures smooth surface. Influenced by Impressionism and the shifting effects of light and colour.
